The August 26 flash floods have caused catastrophic loss of life and destruction across northern Nepal, sweeping away communities, roads, bridges, homes, hydropower facilities and other critical infrastructure.
Search, rescue and relief operations are underway, and many affected communities remain difficult to reach.
For people who want to help financially, we recommend donating directly to the Government of Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Until then, search for each organisation directly rather than following a link from anywhere — including this page. Donation links copied out of social media are a common way for money to reach the wrong account.

Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund
The Government of Nepal has asked individuals and organizations in Nepal and around the world to contribute directly to its official disaster relief fund.

Funds support the government’s search, rescue, emergency relief, rehabilitation and recovery efforts in affected communities. Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is directing international donors to the official online donation portal.
The official Government of Nepal portal accepts international credit and debit cards, as well as NepalPay QR, connectIPS and supported mobile wallets.
If you can donate directly, this is the simplest way to put your contribution directly behind Nepal’s national response.
U.S. tax-deductible donations
U.S. 501(c)(3) — tax-deductible
Public Health Innovation Lab (PHiL)
For donors in the United States who would like to make a charitable contribution through a U.S. 501(c)(3), Public Health Innovation Lab is accepting donations for Nepal flood relief.

PHiL will not retain an administrative fee. 100% of contributions received through this appeal will be used for Nepal flood relief. PHiL currently intends to direct these funds to the Government of Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, subject to PHiL’s independent charitable oversight and control.
Eligible donors will receive a charitable contribution receipt from PHiL.
If receiving a U.S. charitable deduction is not important to you, we encourage you to donate directly through the Government of Nepal portal above.

Project HOPE
Project HOPE is deploying an emergency-response team to Nepal and coordinating with local organizations and officials on health and humanitarian needs. The organization has previous disaster-response experience in Nepal.

Direct Relief
Direct Relief is working with Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Nepal-based health organizations to identify and respond to urgent medical needs. Medical teams from Dhulikhel Hospital and Mountain Heart Nepal have already deployed to flood-affected areas with Direct Relief-supported emergency supplies.

GlobalGiving’s Nepal Flood Relief Fund supports trusted local organizations responding to the disaster. Funding can be used for immediate needs including search and rescue, medical assistance, food, clean water, shelter and essential supplies, as well as longer-term recovery.

All Hands & Hearts
All Hands & Hearts has worked in Nepal since the 2015 earthquake and is mobilizing its existing Nepal team in response to the current floods. Its work is focused on emergency relief now, with the organization’s broader model extending into longer-term recovery and rebuilding.

Mercy Corps is coordinating with local authorities and humanitarian partners to identify urgent needs and support emergency response efforts in communities affected along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems.

World Help
World Help and its partners in Nepal are preparing emergency distributions including food, clean water and medical assistance. The organization says a $50 contribution can support emergency relief for one flood-affected person.

Which option should I choose?
- I want my donation to go directly to Nepal’s official response
- Donate to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. This is our primary recommendation and the official channel the Government of Nepal is asking international donors to use.
- I am in the United States and want a charitable contribution receipt
- Donate through Public Health Innovation Lab. PHiL will not take an administrative fee from donations made through this appeal.
- I prefer to support an independent humanitarian organization
- Choose one of the organizations above based on the type of response you want to support — medical assistance, locally led relief, emergency supplies or longer-term recovery.
Cash is especially useful right now
With roads and bridges destroyed and needs changing quickly, cash contributions allow organizations already operating in Nepal to purchase and move what is actually needed rather than manage unsolicited goods sent from overseas.
Current guidance from Nepal specifically points donors toward financial contributions, and reporting from Kathmandu notes that aid organizations consider cash more useful than unsolicited physical donations in the present response.
